The ‘Circles of Food’ Project
The Circles of Food Project seeks to understand food systems. It develops principles for action. And it provides tools for cities and communities to make their food systems stronger, more integrated and more vibrant. This is based on the argument that strong food systems are a key dimension of a sustainable social life.
The Circles of Food Project began as an initiative of the Australian Food Alliance, founded in 2009. It later changed its name to Sustain, the Australian Food Network. Using the Circles method, Sustain has become a thought-leader in the field of sustainable, healthy and resilient food systems.
The Circles of Food Project is part of the larger Circles of Social Life project. This larger project was developed by the Metropolis, the World Association of Major Metropolises. Across this whole period, the Project has been led by scholars at Western Sydney University.
